(I have T in my right ear only starting may 1,2017)

So on Monday July 3rd I went to a new ENT doctor that I was referred over to by Allison audiology, I went to an audiologist because I was seeking treatment...they said it was too early and because I told them my story they said it was best for a second opinion and it was the best ENT in Houston.

I went to the ENT and they did a much more thorough hearing test...
In May I did have very low hearing loss in right ear, as of July 3rd I have perfect hearing, no hearing loss now.

Saw ENT doctor and he said I had sudden hearing loss with tinnitus.
I asked him about cochlear hydrops and said it's a made up diagnosis and it's simply irrelevant.

However he did tell me the tinnitus comes from the brain signaling sound to my ear, and sometimes the brain won't shut that noise off. He said there are several ways to cope with it but most people habituate because it's no longer intrusive to the person or it goes away...

The reason why I share my stories is because anyone who goes through this I hope to help...not every day is easy but it's been much more manageable. Much love ❤️

Habituation and it going away are not the same thing. How is your t now?

Right, I wrote that sentence wrong, it simply goes away or people habituate and it's no longer intrusive to a person. My T is quiet today...yesterday was louder for some reason. Didn't do anything different

Tinnitus is a day by day thing. I take it one day at a time and try to do my best. A relaxed mind/body has helped me with my tinnitus, it's not easy but it can be done. Also, having experience for sure counts, when dealing with tinnitus.

Be well.....

I totally agree with @fishbone , tinnitus is day by day & one day at a time approach. And living as if this day is the last one in your life and it depends on you what you do with that day. One of a guys on my country (Poland) tinnitus forums, who copes with T pretty well says that everyday he says to himself: I will worry about my tinnitus a day after, not today. And he pushes away thoughts about the future with T to unidentified place in time. I'm dealing with it for 2.5years now, at first I could not imagine to survive a month with it. But here I am, still alive 2,5years later. I no longer have sleeping problems, in general my mood is far better than in the beginning. Now I know T is livable: it's irritating, it's frustrating but usually it's not a source of stress I used to have about it. Everyday in the morning I just say to myself: balls up, time to do something with this day. It's mentally difficult, but manageble. There are people who are doing it for decades (like @fishbone) still alive and still living productive lives. Pink noise, rain sounds, crickets and radio are my best friends now.

Love it..."balls-up" and turn on the radio.
Excellent advice and a great way to live.
I am never far from my radio - turned low o_O
