Agreed. A hearing loss drug would help a lot. If they can get the hair cells back to the way they were when we were born it would probably cure the majority of the peoples tinnitus. I say majority because there are many different types, but I think anyone that has perfect hearing, but a minor dip about 8k would benefit also. They call it hidden hearing loss. But everyone else else that has it due to a dip we can record would benefit greatly.

The weird thing is, when my tinnitus and hyperacusis are up I want a drug to relief my tinnitus (and hyperacusis). When my tinnitus and hyperacusis are low I conclude that my hearing loss is more important. As if I have a short term memory.
But, yes...there is a change that a hearing loss drug could help with tinnitus.

      Hmm.
5% of 20.000 is 1000. Lets say they are evenly devided pr. kHZ 7 through 20. 1000/13
That leavs us 71.4 hair-cells then!
That will do then. Not asking for much really!!

Looking at this depiction of the cochlea I conclude hearing loss in much if not most people is in the base section of the cochlea. It is relatively easy to get drugs in that part of the cochlea opposed to the middle or apex section. Relatively is important in this context.:)
