I see. 40db isn't a bad ambient noise level. For some, the decibel level needed to mask would be damaging over a long period of time.
I got used to sleeping with my T without masking, and I think over time that helped me get used to my T. When it spikes it can still be very bothersome. I realize that everyone is different; what worked for me may not work for you.
I have multiple tones too. It's different for everyone, and I know it's easier said than done, but I've found it better to just try to get used to listening to the tones than trying to mask them.
I've come to that conclusion too. Perhaps because my T cannot be masked without reaching dangerous levels in volume, so I'm not ready to get into that territory.
I've never had problems with masking making my tinnitus worse except since the beginning of this month I think my ears are more sensitive, some of the new tones are I'm getting are sounding like the masking track so I'm wondering if there's some kind of connection I'm wondering if too much sound can damage the brain even if it's not loud
Did another audiogram today up to 8 kilohertz and there's been no significant change, my audiogram has been stable for the last 6 years despite my tinnitus getting worse, I am convinced that some undetectable damage was done the new low frequency tone was very loud in the audiogram booth and very unlikely to be a temporary Spike. I also had a blood test cholesterol is borderline High though doubt that has to do with anything. Vitamin B12 range seems to be within acceptable limits
