I was just in a restaurant for 3 1/2 hours. Now my T is louder and my ear hurts. I felt like I wasn't hearing as well at first. Should I be concerned? Is this temporary?

Restaurant without music or with low music? Probably temporary. Sucks. I had the same thing happen to me a while back.

My phone app said around 55 db. I feel like that can't be right. No loud music. Just a lot of people talking. I'm getting a lot of sizzling.

@Jkph75 ,
Just curious......how is your hearing and tinnitus today?
I did the same thing on Friday night, went to a noisy bar/restaurant with friends (no live music). The noise in my deaf ear tends to get loud and uncomfortable in those situations so it was a real challenge to try and keep up with the conversation but I didn't notice pain until after leaving. I was still experiencing burning pain on Saturday so I decided to sleep the afternoon away and I kept things kind of quiet for the rest of the weekend. That helped me to return to "normal". I usually opt for quieter restaurants.

@Lorac

I guess I am better today. Yesterday was really loud. My T is in my hearing ear. I can't hear it in places with a lot of noise. I almost forgot about my T until I came out of the restaurant with my ear hurting. Ugh this is such a drag.

So you get pain and reactive tinnitus in your deaf ear?

Yes, absolutely! My left ear became suddenly and profoundly deaf three years ago and my right ear still has excellent hearing. All of my problems with T and H are in my deaf ear. I have aural fullness and noise in the deaf ear. When I hear external sounds in my good ear, my deaf ear reacts. I do not hear any T in my good ear or in my head.

That sucks. The reactiveness is kind of strange too. Does it react the same if you put in earplugs in your deaf ear.

I use an earplug in my good ear sometimes in an effort to reduce reactiveness. Putting earplug in my deaf ear does not change anything.

I've had that happen a few times and in a day or 2 it always goes back to baseline. If it's sustained for 3 hours though AND over 80-90 db that's a different story.

Lorac I enjoy reading your responses. My situation in relation to this thread's topic is the same as yours. Except I am not deaf in one ear.

Same as racerfish also when exposed to loud noise levels.

I take it easy for a few days and usually things get back to normal tinnitus levels. When stressed my entire body just gets so tight and I need to to relaxation stuff to help with that.
