We are left to pick up the pieces.

In reading the experiences of many members I have come to the conclusion that in many cases, perhaps most cases, there has been one person, one culprit, one incident that caused our devastating acoustic trauma, and ultimately our brain damage.

Whether it be a vile driver whose texting was far more important than driving with due care and attention for others,
a medical / dental practitioner who’s expertise was criminally negligent,
a (would be) musician who, in a fit of Asperger anger, allowed his instrument to scream in my ear,
or some other..etc...
frequently we are aware of the culprit.

But there is usually no redress.
And anyway, there is no way back to silence.
So we have to live with our suffering.

Tinnitus Talk is I believe a vital resource.
It is not perfect.
Tinnitus lightweights attempt with a messianic zeal to dispense their words of superior benevolent wisdom, to genuine tinnitus sufferers.
‘Nauseating !’
Worse still, totally ignorant arrogant ‘trolls’ seek to belittle and deride those of us who suffer most.

However, people in distress need to talk.
We need to tell someone.
We need somebody to understand what we are going through.

We need, at the very least, recognition.
This is why children run to their mums - if they have a nice caring one.
It is why people in emotional distress turn to psychotherapists.
(My therapist - on hearing my story of childhood isolation - said
“Oh David - this should never have happened to you.”
We all deserve recognition.
Recognition cannot cure us, but is perhaps the nearest we can come to a sense of justice.

On Tinnitus Talk we can recognise each other and support each other.
We can also ignore the trolls, or at least recognise them for what they are - arse’oles.
Oh dear - kindly excuse my French.

I know it won’t work like that - but I can wish everybody whatever I like!

dude, they already know how to heal noise induced hearing loss which makes tinnitus. we're just playing a waiting game for the economics of this bs to catch up. just hang on, big questions will soon be answered. there are things happening.

Well said. It's so hard to express to your loved ones and friends what it's like to have this perfect storm. Never imagined something like this could be possibe. What a way to f*ck up life. Despite the low percentage of sufferes something has to be done. This is insane! Hopefully realiable treatments are on the way...

I am crying right now its so bad. T is a 9/10. Hyperacusis so bad feels like somewone is putting molten lava into my ears. Damn the ENT who damaged my hearing with the Caloric + CVEMP. So many inner hair cells have been damaged now.

 

I mean I did. I listened to loud music concerts and loud gaming. I just didn't know the gravity of what I was doing. If someone explained tinnitus to me at a young age you bet your ass I wouldn't be suffering today.

Mate you would never have listened. For example look at the dire straits we’re in and yet do you think any of your friends or family members will start wearing earplugs to concerts or loud bars/nightclubs?!? Will they fuck.

No one but us seems to want to find out if curing hearing loss cures the noise. And I 100% agree with you John that our so called charities should be lobbying these companies daily to release data as a matter of urgency so we can find out if there’s any bloody hope for us.

 

Where are the celebrities on any of this? Where are all the vets on this site? I haven't met one person here that got tinnitus over in Iraq from a bomb or a firefight. Why hasn't anyone here visited Minbo Shim? especially the ones that killed themselves? How come you never hear Tinnitus Hub people talk about stem cells or Fx322?

There's plenty of attention on Dr. Joseph Rauschecker, a man with no real message, that can't raise money. OOOOHHHH But he did a Ted Talk, and the Neuromod, there hasn't even been any scientific data released at all.
There's more data behind what Dr. Minbo Shim is doing than Neuromod. They have videos of people claiming it helped them, so does Minbo Shim, but people call him a scammer and the same people praise Neuromod, which isn't even a cure.

Is the world just a bunch of sad friggen idiots? What in the world is going on here? Are these people too stupid to understand that 99% of us have damaged cochleas that CAN BE repaired right now?!?!?!?!?

I'm not knocking people that are sad but why is anyone here on this site posting about wanting to die? Shouldn't we just be wanting to have our ears regenerated??? This is not a fantasy. And forget the naysayers, restoring hearing will alleviate tinnitus.

 

People are beaten up and broken down John. They’ve given up, lost hope, had their confidence stripped to the bone.

We are conditioned in to being led back to health by doctors and specialists and with this condition we have just been left stumbling around in the dark desperately fumbling for a light switch on a wall that’s 1000 feet high and four fucking miles wide whilst being attacked by screaming noise.

Even some of the celebrities with this who appear fine are probably suffering horribly and can’t even wrap their head around it, let alone talk about it.

It sounds pathetic but we’re all just praying someone else will save us because we’re too fucking broken to save ourselves.

this lab is where notch inhibitors and the technology behind fx322 came from. the dude even says around @28:00 that stem cells implanted into the ear turn into hair cells and make the nerve regrow. Before they came up with the notch inhibitor chemicals they published a paper saying that bone marrow stem cells can regenerate hair cells.

I got the paid full version of this paper just now from my wife's library subscription access:

I can't just copy and paste the paper because it's copyrighted. But it clearly says that IGF-1 in a gel injected onto the round window of the mammalian cochlea and the average increase in hearing was greater than 20 dB across all 5 frequencies measured. AND IT WAS SAFE.

It's probable that additional injections would increase the effect.

GTFO here why isn't this being done right now, in America? We need to wake up like a sleeping giant and get this shit going NOW.

 

I absolutely agree! There is Zero awareness about noise damage!!! There’s sun damage, sexual health, teeth brushing... you name it but nothing about ears!!! I wish I knew too...
