Hi, I did a hearing test and I'd like to know what the audiologist performed after the tympanometry test. An earbud-like thing was placed in my ear and it emitted very strange wavering sci-fi sounds in various frequencies. Sounded something like this

My question is, what kind of a test is that? Since I am under 18 and I was at a children's hospital, was it an otoacoustic emission test? I read that acoustic reflex tests are usually a pure tone. Thanks for reading.

I know they played really loud tones in my ear to make sure my eardrum was functioning properly. Then they performed the actually hearing tests.

Do you remember what kind of sound they played? Was it a single pure tone in each ear?

It was a range of low and high tones that were loud enough to cause damage. It was only placed in one ear then they switched it to the other one. I guess they can see how much fluid was behind the ear because if the eardrum reflects the sound then it's a lot.
