Silence isn't completely gone for me thanks to residual inhibition. It's the effect that occurs when you listen to a tone that matches your tinnitus. It temporarily stops the ringing altogether.

For myself it lasts about 30 seconds at the most. Does having this effect mean something special for your tinnitus? I suspect it would mean my problem is in the inner ear and not the brain. I say this because the stimulation must allow your auditory processing to resume as normal.

It means that your brain is temporarly getting the input it needs I believe. Consider trying ACRN therapy. It could lead to some good noise reduction if you stick to it.

I have tried it and so far it seems pretty worthless.

It will take a while. I forget the test but there's a test that measures how much you perceive tinnitus, 0 being not at all and 100 being as loud as possible. ACRN has reduced it by 10 points for some after three months or so of hour use a day. For you that may get it out of perceptive range.

Wow, 10 whole points after three months. I will pass and instead focus on things that induce neural decay

That's actually pretty significant. And that's it working at its best. If you did it it probably wouldn't yield those results but close to it.

I didn't know where to post this article. As far as I understood, the aim of this study is: Are the effects of residual inhibition visible on EEG? The attached file is the protocol of the clinical trial which is currently taking place at the Bern University Hospital in Switzerland ((reference number: 2017-02037). Enrollment commenced in February 2018, maybe some us have been enrolled?
