My t is basically going away. It flares up at times when I go outside and it's gotten cold (because I live in the midwest this can be annoying because the weather is so unstable!). I remember it started to get better when my ear first started popping as well.

But I'm worried that, because the issue seems to have been related to cold/ear pressure, that it could get worse or come back when I go for my med school interviews in 4-5 months. :(

Not really asking for advice since I'm not sure there's any, just wanted to state why I'm worried.

I am glad to hear that your tinnitus is almost gone. Good luck for your med school interviews. You will do just fine.

Actually, another can of worms are my med school applications. Because I lost last semester due to brain surgery, I'll be rushing to take the MCAT and send my app in, which can be troubling due to the fact that they do rolling admissions. I'm taking a huge risk applying this cycle, and if it doesn't go well I have to take an extra year. Then I worry that my ear could get worse from all the traveling I'll have to do, you read so much about planes hurting people on here>_< gah

One of my friends had to retake her MCAT and send her apps at the last minute. The admissions process can add its own stress. She did well and has now completed med school. I personally haven't traveled by plane since I got tinnitus about 2 months back, and I am just as scared about it. I think it's great that you are planning to start an exciting phase in your education and wish you the best for the admissions process.

Do these three things when you fly if you're worried about T flareups.

      1) wear earplugs
      2) sit as far in front as possible
      3) choose an aisle seat

Loud sound itself doesn't flare up my t, I'm worried about the descent because even before t I got crazy pain on descent in my ears. It takes me a day of ear popping(that happens on its own) to go back tonormal .
