Hello all,

I have had Tinnitus since June of 2013, and extremely severe hyperacusis since September of 2014. I'm not sure what brought on the H, but the T was a result of standing too close the speakers at a nightclub.

MY T is pretty mild, but it does dominate my thoughts, and life, nonetheless. My life basically revolves around preventing it from getting worse, avoiding noise etc.

My H has an equally negative impact on my life. There are a ton of things I love to do that I am no longer able to (movies, basketball, concerts, bars, salsa clubs etc). I wear earplugs every time I leave the house, and I wear ear muffs over my ear plugs anytime I'm on the street. Even still, certain noises feel way too loud (my ldl is around 55db).

Things have been relatively stable with my T recently, until today. I forgot my earmuffs, but decided I could get from my car to the mall entrance without them. I still had my 22db reduction silicon plugs in, so I figured I'd be okay. as I got out and started walking, a motorcycle started up, and gunned his engine a couple of times. It was only 20 yards or so away. Even with the plugs it sounded WAY too loud. I had my db meter running on my phone and it said the sound was close to 110 decibels.

Now, four hours later, my T has spiked and so has my anxiety. I'm worried this spike is going to be the one that sticks. This was by far the loudest sound I've been exposed to since I got my T and H, so I'm kinda freaking out.

Anyone with any words of encouragement/advice? it would be greatly appreciated .

If your anxiety is running high, then your spike could bother you more. I'm sorry about your situation, I ..Myself have had dishes break in front of me. Heavy wood cabinets drop in front of me and many more loud sounds. It happens and we cannot reverse these events.

Keep protecting your ears and be good to yourself and relax yourself...

Be well....
