Man, I am really really struggling with my habituation this time around! Third time's the charm? I think not! I could use some words of encouragement right now, guys. My tones are driving me to anxiety again. Ugh! How long will it take to habituate THIS TIME???

Still praying that a cure will come someday and free us all from this craziness.

@derpytia I'm so sorry. I have about 4 tones and that's annoying enough (it can get shriekingly loud if that's any consolation). Is it mainly hearing loss related?

you've done it twice you got strength and ability to do it again, don't let the anxiety defeat you, you can pull through.

if you can find a time in relatively recent memory when you were "fine", then you'll probably be "fine" again sometime. you may struggle again at some time after that, and then be fine again later.

this has been my life for the past decade, and I do not think that overall I'm getting "worse", it's just a continual rollercoaster. I wish I could get off, but, this is my life, and it's got a lot of great things in it and I have a baby that depends on me for a lot and needs me and I love her and so I'm here.

@Cal18 It got worse and I have acquired 12 tones over the past three years...

Hi Derpytia, I know your going through a hard time but I'd like to ask a question that's intriguing me: how did you count 12 tones? I'm not doubting you have 12, but it must be incredibly difficult to seperate and count out 12 specific sounds?

@Cal18 It'd definitely hearing loss related and a very lonnnnnng story.

@SilverSpiral I wish I had a for sure answer for you that was more detailed. The best answers I can give is time, earplugs, and masking. As for the causes or increases, more noise and more hearing loss.

@Ed209 I definitely have 12 thought not all of them always sound off at the same time and not all of them are noticeable at all times of the day and sometimes certain ones are so loud that they cover the less loud ones. But if I close my eyes, plug my ears, and count them out at different times of the day, there are 12 tones in all.

What does your audiogram look like?

@SilverSpiral I'm currently waiting to get a new one. I have to wait for my new GP doctor to give me a recommendation to an audiologist. Since the healthcare upheaval here in the US I've had to do a lot of switching around to find good health insurance and a good doctor. It's a mess. But I will be getting a new one soon and will post the results on this forum.
