Don't miss the opportunity to attend Tinnitus Quest's online Q&A with Dr. Susan Shore and Jon Pearson, CEO of Auricle on October 13. We will hear the latest about the Susan Shore Device.
Hi @delta784, we are both terribly unlucky. You developed this cruel disease without EVER having been to a party, and I developed it despite ALWAYS wearing hearing protection, including custom-made earplugs. We lost the lottery. We must be a tiny minority who developed tinnitus undeservedly...
My tinnitus also prevents me from gaining muscle mass at the gym because of the lack of sleep it causes me. It's so frustrating to work hard for nothing.
When I say six months, I’m basing this on what I’ve read on Tinnitus Talk and on my own experience.
I must be one of the severe cases. I developed tinnitus, with four new sounds, along with hyperacusis at a music festival, even though I was wearing custom hearing protection rated for 25 dB.
My...
Thank you @alwaysmasking, but unfortunately the little "miracle" only lasted one week...
I didn't want to talk about it, as I didn't want to spread negativity again, but after one week of using 7.5 mg of Mirtazapine, I had to increase the dose again to 15 mg. And it still doesn't help me sleep...
I think you’re right. Depending on the cause of your tinnitus, you may have a better or worse chance of recovery.
If you have pulsatile tinnitus, surgery can sometimes eliminate it. If your tinnitus is related to jaw problems, physical therapy for TMJ and wearing a mouthguard can help resolve...
Hi folks!
Just a little update about my situation.
I have been taking only 7.5 mg of Mirtazapine to sleep for a week now. Before that, I was taking up to 45 mg (the maximum dose) and then gradually reduced it to the minimum dose.
I can clearly see a difference. My sleep is not as catastrophic...
Unfortunately, no. My tinnitus became extremely intense (even though it was already bad) two years ago, because I tried to resume my social life.
Since then, my sleep has been catastrophic. Mirtazapine and melatonin, which used to work quite well, no longer has any effect.
It's hopeless...
I...
Salut, it must be horrible not to have the support of our parents.
I'm also having sleepless nights for years because of tinnitus. I know the feeling 😔 Are you taking any medicine to help sleep?
I hope you're not serious?! Don't do something like that. Tinnitus can improve, please be patient. It takes years.
You have your whole life ahead of you, don't do anything foolish :(
Hyperacousis does get better over time, if you don't overprotect your ears all the time and if you expose your ears little by little to sound which are not supposed to be harmful (<70 db).
I wish I could sleep again. I didn't have a restful sleep for like 2 years :(
Hi everyone,
Could someone please help me understand, as I’m not sure I have this right.
We have a treatment already in phase II trials that is intended to treat tinnitus in patients exposed to an explosion. Since an explosion is a sound, it could also potentially help those who developed...
For some people, spikes subside, while for others, the tinnitus returns to its initial state. Unfortunately, for others, the worsening symptoms seem to be permanent. This is the case for me; my symptoms have worsened since I tried to resume my social life two years ago.
Hi mate, I lost mine at the age of 28. I'm 34 now. I know this horrible feeling. I'm like a zombie everyday because of the lack of sleep. I live isolated in my room, doing nothing. It is terrible. Personaly I don't want to kill myslef, but I don't want to live like this for the 40 years to come...
