    Hyperacousis does get better over time, if you don't overprotect your ears all the time and if you expose your ears little by little to sound which are not supposed to be harmful (<70 db). I wish I could sleep again. I didn't have a restful sleep for like 2 years :(

    For some people, spikes subside, while for others, the tinnitus returns to its initial state. Unfortunately, for others, the worsening symptoms seem to be permanent. This is the case for me; my symptoms have worsened since I tried to resume my social life two years ago.

    Salut, I also have a sort of electric/metallic sound that seems to move around inside my head. This is one of the 5 sounds I hear that bothers me the most. Complete silence is not good for hyperacusis. Your hears have to get used little by little to noise. But loud noise is definitely dangerous!

    My ENT prescribed me Gabapentine for 2 months after my noise trauma. It did absolutely nothing for my tinnitus. He then made me tried 4 others antiepileptic to no avail.

    I first got tinnitus when I was 21 year old, during my Erasmus exchange program (but it was very mild). So I know what it is to have hearing issues during youth. I'm 34 now, and I have been having exremely disabling tinnitus for 6 years.

    That's what we call an incurable disease. Nobody can help us unfortuntely :( "Get used to it" say all doctors. Yeah, get used to suffer your entire life... What a nice way to respond to a patient. I hope Auricle could at least alleviate tinnitus.
