I am currently taking 20 mg prozac. (5 weeks) gives me insomnia (4:00 a.m.. Am) and I have not improved the tinnitus. I would switch to paroxetine but I read that can worsen tinnitus. Could you tell me if this medication can actually worsen my tinnitus?

I've taken one and I cannot discern if it's louder or simply a remnant of yesterday's anxiety spike. I've read wonder stories about SSRIs and people incapacitated with the adverse effects.

@linearb I've been on Prozac and Xanax for 25 years. I found this to be beneficial for me to tolerate tinnitus. Even on the cocktail I do have spikes but I do stick with it. The formula has allowed me to keep a job, finish a career and deal better. I do not suggest this will work for everyone...

No - I never had headaches that I attributed to Klonopin. I get migraines from time to time and throbbing ears! I tell my husband that "my woofers are woofing" when I get the throbbing in my ears. I pray that I could go back to the tinnitus level before Prozac 2014 - that level was manageable.

L-theanine, Skull Cap, Valerian, L-Tryptophan, Ashwagandha, St John's Wort Or you can go the med route with an SSRI(you can't take most of these supplements alongside an SSRI) like Paxil or Prozac or others. Also there are psychological and behavior issues with this to work on.

You can mix the powder from the capsules with water. Mix it with 10 ml of water and that should do the trick.

@Nita R. I was reluctant to take medications. When needed it helps me sleep(Ambien and XANAX) to sleep. Prozac for depression. Xanax appears to change the pitch of my T. Xanax is a known helper for many. Read some of posts. Have him consult a doctor.

Glynis I will do therapy but I don't like the meds and last time they gave me prozac, I tried citalopram and clonazopram. I tried mirtazapine. I just had adverse reactions to all of them. I will continue with therapy and once this noise settled down or dissspear I will be happy.

Sorry for the delay. I've been feeling terrible. No, I did not taper further after 20 mg. I just stopped taking it. The antidepressant effect was enough to help me cope with my fluctuating symptoms. How are you doing now? Are you feeling better?
