Possible Treatment? Myelin Sheath Repaired with Antibody in Mice

This research was not based on tinnitus but on multiple sclerosis which is a disease that breaks down the myelin sheath around nerves. To see how it relates to tinnitus take a look at this press release from the University of Leicester: Tinnitus study signals new advance in understanding link...

Possible Treatment? Myelin Sheath Repaired with Antibody in Mice

So one of the theories for the cause of tinnitus is damage to the myelin sheath of the auditory nerve. While looking around on the net I came across this article which covers research being conducted at the Mayo clinic. Apparently they've found an antibody that can repair myelin. Hopefully this...

Tinnitus Without Hearing Loss. How Is This Possible?

Because it's in the brain and not the ear.

    AM-101

I was in contact with a doctor in Jacksonville a few days ago about participating in the am-101 trial and unfortunately I was told I did not qualify due to being over 3 months. I am around 4 months at this point. I read on clinicaltrials.gov that they are accepting people who have had tinnitus...

I'm not surprised potassium plays a roll. I've noticed that my t lowers when taking potassium.

Tinnitus Wakes Me Up 3 am Every Morning. Advice?

It's anxiety/stress waking you up not t. I had this problem not that long ago but it was before I got t. My best advice would be to get exercise every day, try to eliminate stress and if you have any places near by where you can get a massage I'd do that as well. Also, try and sleep on your back...

    The Twilight Zone

That's a pretty good story. You should think about writing for Hollywood, god knows they need some decent writers. As far as living in your own personal little hell, I know how you feel, I had enough problems before tinnitus and know that I have that on top of those problems it can be...

It Looks Like the Spring Is Here Already

I just opened my door a few minutes ago and there are bugs flying around everywhere. Felt like it was in the low 80's and when I checked my thermometer it agreed. It's been in the 70's for the past two or three days now and it was especially nice yesterday. Hopefully today will be just as nice...

Dental Work (Including Drilling) & Tinnitus — Questions and Experiences

I'm in a similar situation myself. I need a couple of wisdom teeth pulled. I'm worried that the procedure will make my tinnitus worse.

    Stroke Victim Cured of Tinnitus

Pfft I got you beat, I had 6 big macs just this morning. Plus two quarter pounders. To be honest though, I considered what would be worse at one point, having to listen to this incessant noise for the rest of my life or only having the use of one side of my face. I almost chose the stroke.

    AM-101 TACTT1 Results Released

I have been meaning to start a thread for those who have had the am101 treatment for the past couple of weeks now. I regret not having done so. I feel like these posts will become lost in this huge thread. I'm still happy you guys posted though and shared your experiences. I have a few questions...

    Stroke Victim Cured of Tinnitus

The brain can adapt after cells die and other cells can perform the function of the cells that died. But what about cells that are damaged but don't die? Could it be malfunctioning cells that cause the sound?

    Stroke Victim Cured of Tinnitus

You could be correct and really we have no way of knowing. Personally, I think its damaged cells/nerves in the auditory cortex. It reminds me of an experience I had in college where lightning struck the telephone box outside of my apartment. That surge of energy traveled through my telephone...

    Stroke Victim Cured of Tinnitus

The doctor in this article suffered from tinnitus for 40 years before having a stroke which cured him. The stroke did not cause any hearing loss but it did eliminate the ringing in his ears. This appears to be evidence that tinnitus lies in the brain and not the ear...

    Difficulty Concentrating

I appreciate the tips girls. I've tried several supplements including magnesium. I'm not sure if any of them have helped. GABA is something I've considered but have not tried. Mainly because I'm not sure where to find it. Where do you get your GABA from Karen? As far as listening to music...

    Difficulty Concentrating

I was trying to study at the library a couple of days ago and it was extremely difficult to focus. The ringing was not exceptionally loud that day but it was still enough to make it very hard to concentrate on what I was doing. For those of you who have had tinnitus for a while how do you block...

What Is the Cause of Your Tinnitus?

Caused by masturbation? I think I would have had tinnitus years ago if that was possible. Join the club. I'm surprised by all the people who think stress played a role in them developing tinnitus. I know tmj can cause it but I didn't think stress alone could.

    I'm new - hi!

I ate a bunch of chocolate over the holidays and I didn't notice any difference on days I ate it and days I didn't. I'm guessing coffee has more caffiene than chocolate. I don't know that for a fact though. I rarely drink soda and never drink coffee so I can't help you there.

I Would Never Survive Living on the Mainland...

It took me a several years to adjust back to the cold after living in Hawaii for 2 years. I'll say one thing, it didn't seem right when it was 80 degrees on christmas day. That whole fall/winter felt odd.

I Can't Stop Thinking About It

I've read a couple of your posts and you have talked about hurting yourself in both of them. I think you should try and find someone to talk to and maybe get some meds. I know it won't help your tinnitus, but I think it could help you to cope with it. Just my thoughts. Edit - It looks like you...

    AM-101 TACTT1 Results Released

Does anyone know if they will be having more trials at the U of Miami? I also read somewhere that they might have some at the U of Florida. I looked at the links people posted and the only thing I came away with was a date of march 14th. No locations. My T just started this November so I'm still...
