Tensor Tympani Regrowth: Hearing a Click While I Speak

Has anyone ever heard of stapedial tenotomy being done through a perforation in the eardrum, instead of cutting around/lifting the whole eardrum like a flap?

Can Pressing on the Tragus Cause Damage?

I have experience with this. I've described it below in relation to my experience with earplugs (copy/pasting out of laziness), but I've had the EXACT same thing with pushing my tragus... When you push in or take out earplugs that create a seal, you cause an increase in pressure (or...

    "Kiss of Deaf"?

When you push in or take out earplugs that create a seal, you cause an increase in pressure (or suction/decrease in pressure, respectively) on the eardrum/ossicles attached to the eardrum (which make up your "middle ear"). Basically this action causes very mild barotrauma. For most people this...

Earplugs and Suctioning Incidents: Thoughts and Alternatives?

I've run into serious long term ear/tinnitus issues to do with earplug pressure/suction. See here: https://www.tinnitustalk.com/threads/worried-about-suction-from-silicone-earplugs-causing-damage.36315/page-2#post-521732 I've tested so, so, so many earplugs foam and otherwise to figure out an...

Wobbly 1400 Hz Tone After Pressure to Eardrum, Quiet with Water/Oil Sealing Eardrum

So I have a 1400 Hz-ish tinnitus that was caused, and flares back up/gets worse, when pressure is applied to my eardrum (like inserting earplugs or headphones not carefully, or slamming door while inside car, etc), so basically very mild barotrauma I guess. Flare ups usually last about 30 days...

    Eardrum Pressure Whenever I Burp

When I burp my right eardrum expands outward painfully. It only happens with my right ear. Shouldn't this air be going out my eustachian tube, not pushing out my eardrum?

Are There Earplugs That Don't Seal/Suction?

I have sensaphonic and westone custom molded/silicon earplugs. Both create a seal, by design. Taking them in/out isn't so much of a problem with these though, as much as sleeping with them, lying on one side pressure to the earplug pushes/creates pressure in the ear canal/eardrum.

Are There Earplugs That Don't Seal/Suction?

I've used a number of foam/silicone/custom earplugs and all of them seal well as a feature. The problem is when I put them in/out the suction effect hurts my eardrum, and worsens my 1400 Hz (objective) tinnitus. Does anyone know of any earplugs that don't seal much? Maybe some porous foam ones...

Multivitamin Helping My High Pitched/Static Noise Tinnitus — What Ingredient Might Be Helping?

I ordered all the individual ingredients, and I've been trying them one by one to figure out which is helping. B12 worsened. Magnesium worsened (or maybe just made me more uncomfortable, so I was more bothered by the tinnitus). Potassium worsened. Biotin did nothing. Niacin significantly...

Multivitamin Helping My High Pitched/Static Noise Tinnitus — What Ingredient Might Be Helping?

Ingredients are on this page: https://www.oneaday.com/vitamins/vitamins-for-men/multivitamin-for-mens-health/ I'd really like to figure out which specific ingredients are helping, so I can avoid over-supplementing the others (and because taking them all makes me feel not so great generally).

Tinnitus from Blowing Nose, Lasts About a Month, Reduced by Ibuprofen

I've got a 1400 Hz fluctuating tonal tinnitus that lasts about a month whenever I blow my nose too hard or let water hit my eardrum in the shower. Pressuring my ears changes it, and Ibuprofen reduces it. What might be the mechanisms at play here?

What Kind of Tinnitus Is This (Changes with Sounds, Pressure, Orientation, Interference, etc.)?

So I have a tone in my right ear that appeared after an ear cleaning (with tool/vacuum by ENT) in 2015. It changes in volume, and changes slightly in tone, in response to many factors. Pressurising my ears, blowing my nose, water in my ears, lying down or standing up, lying left or right side...

Tinnitus Back Again After Not Noticing It for a Few Years

I developed tinnitus in 2015 after a music concert, a ~16 kHz tone. Then I developed a ~1.5 kHz tone in my right ear after an ENT exam/cleaning. The 16 kHz tone is constant, but responds to 15-17khz external tones (goes away for about 2 mins at a time). The 1.5 kHz tone is very variable...
