A New Consistent High-Pitched Tinnitus Sound Started Out of Nowhere a Week Ago

Long term tinnitus sufferer here - here is a first for me in my long journey - my left ear has had a consistent high pitch for a week now. Started out of nowhere. Of course I’m hoping this is a temporary spike but I haven’t had a spike like this one before.

It’s a ruthless, cruel condition - I’m concerned that I may not cope well with this increase. I can deal with my usual ‘static’ but this high pitch is one out of the box.

Sorry it took so long for someone to reply. How are you doing now? I've had a maddening high pitch for 27 days after an acoustic trauma but just trying to take things one day at a time.

 

I've had several spikes in my 24 years with tinnitus. Sometimes you can get a different sound that lasts a while. My last spike lasted 2 months. But sometimes the anxiety of hearing it makes it seem louder than it may seem.

 

Did you read the nicotinamide riboside thread?

 

I’ve read some of it - I am currently taking Nicotinamide Riboside in case it helps.

Were you taking any kind of new supplement or medication at the time or a few days before it happened?

 

Same here, new high pitch started very faintly November 2019 and it’s now a full on siren in my head.
I’m struggling very badly with this now.
Have no idea where it came from!

 

I think it was the bottle dropping that made it worse right?
I feel your pain, as I have a monster in my head.

 

Yes I think that too. High pitch was loud that day then settled down go hardly audible, but progressively got worse since then.
If there is hell it must be this!

 

Hi, thanks for your replies. My left ear is a bit better. It kind of comes and goes that particular sound but my saving grace I think is that my anxiety is not taking over so that puts me in a position of strength.
