      Noise
      Hi all,

I’ve had tinnitus in my left ear that’s like an eeeeee that blatantly is in my left ear, like an electrical noise. Anyways, as time has gone by I’ve learnt to live with it and my life got back to normal once I stopped obsessing over it.

However lately I’ve got this sssssshhhhhhh noise that seems to be originating from within my head and not my ears, I had it a while ago and it either disappeared or I just stopped noticing it. But it’s bothersome right now.

Lately though and I must say a few factors:-

      - My right ear was blocked and discomforting. I went to the walk in clinic where I was told my ears were full of wax, they couldn’t see the ear drum, to put olive oil in and get them irrigated (although I will pay to get them suctioned privately which I believe is safer). Have been putting a few drops in each day and my hearing seems ok now. Not suctioned yet.

      - I’ve had 2 colds in the last 6 weeks, nasal congestion and all that.

      - I’ve had bad anxiety lately, with agitation that has forced me to believe that I cannot cope without antidepressants and to be fair, I function a lot better with them.

Any idea what this new head noise is? Is this even tinnitus? According to anxietycentre dot com it’s a symptom of anxiety, that should fade.

Any thoughts or anyone with specialist knowledge would be greatly appreciated.

      Thanks

I don't have specialist knowledge about this, but I have heard of someone stating he has both the high pitch eeeee and the ssssshhhhhh type of T, and he has been a household name of celebrity in America, David Letterman, the famous talk show comedian. Perhaps hear him here describing his T to William Shatner (the Star Trek Captain Kirk) in a talk show in 1996.

David Letterman with William Shatner - March,...

I hope you will get a doctor to remove this wax manually. You can get a serious spike as a result of microsuction...

Since it was confirmed that your ears are full of wax, it's a good idea to get them cleaned, however I will second @Bill Bauer and advise you not to do microsuction, instead ask for manual removal. I have read at least 3 separate posts on this forum where people got serious, long lasting spikes after the microsuction procedure.

I won’t get suctioned then, I thought that was safe as it didn’t touch anything.

Hmmmmmm, what’s interesting is that I found another one of my posts in February with the same complaint, and it either disappeared or I just cancelled it out.

I must say I’ve been very anxious lately, (I suffer from an anxiety disorder) and a bit depressed.

According to the the anxiety centre (search google) it’s a stress response when it suddenly comes from within your head like fizzing, hissing, that should disappear once the stress is eliminated, although it could also persist indefinitely.

It seems loud, so loud that it masks my left ear's usual tinnitus that brought me to this site in the first place.

Anybody else have a ssshhhh noise in head, like air escaping but not coming from ears, rather from inside the head.

I can’t figure out if it’s because of wax build up/recent cold or just anxiety/stress.
