Aciclovir — Valaciclovir — Famciclovir

There is evidence that stress causes tinnitus & hyperacusis and also sudden hearing loss detectable by audiogram or hidden hearing loss.

It is observed that under stress herpes family viruses are activated.

Nearly 80% of people are infected with herpes virus and have antibodies against virus.

If someone is infected, it can be seen on blood exams for antibodies against herpes virus.

Have anyone tried antivirals for treatment of tinnitus & hyperacusis?

I want to hear opinions especially from those whose tinnitus & hyperacusis is of unknown origin (not from acoustic trauma - noise)

 

Have you tried it?

 

I have severe pain hyperacusis / noxacusis and moderate tinnitus, both of unknown origin. I tried valacyclovir, but it did not have any effect.

 

I am currently trying this.

 

I tried a three month course of Acyclovir but with no effect on my tinnitus.

 

Neither Aciclovir nor Famciclovir reduce symptoms of tinnitus. I have used both for extended periods of time.
