Are there any antibiotic ear drops that are safe?

My GP prescribed neomycin, polymyxin and hydrocortisone drops for my ear that had an earache in it a few days ago.

On day 3, tinnitus started. I'm really afraid to take them (drops).

She said my eardrum looked normal. She removed some wax and said it looked red behind where the wax had been. I asked her to put me on prednisone since I've never had tinnitus in this ear. I've been using 50/50 rubbing alcohol and white vinegar instead of the drops.

My ear feels a little full but the pain has mostly gone away. Thoughts?

I can't find any ear drops that are safe in the event that you have a perforation of the eardrum or if there is absorption through the skin, etc.

Thanks. These drops are ototoxic if they reach the middle/inner ear.

Ciprodex drops are used regularly on kids that have perforated ear drums (after ear tubes surgery for example). I researched it a few months ago on pubmed and found a consensus in terms of safety in the literature available.
After reading that, I felt better about its use in my daughter's ears (she has tubes), once right after surgery, and a second time a few months after surgery to deal with an infection.
Read the research to feel more comfortable about it.
