Hi, I don't get to this forum very often these days, off to even more interesting and disturbing health issues it seems like deafness and heart problems. Anyway, I took Augmentin 825-125 mg or a sinus infection over the weekend. I only took 3 pills. 1 on Friday night and 2 on Saturday. I woke up Sunday morning and my tinnitus had spiked and I had a new sound, much more of a middle of the head sound than what I'm used to which seems to be located in my right ear. The head noise was loud and I couldn't even hear the typical in the ear sound. It spooked me and I stopped taking it. Plus, it was also giving me diarrhea. The new sound has pretty much stopped now. It's Monday. I've never heard anything about Augmentin being ototoxic and don't know what to think. 2 questions, has this ever happened to anyone else and do you think I could request a drug less strong like amoxicillin without the Clav.? Thanks. I'm getting a cochlear implant later this month and need to be healthy for that surgery.
