Sitting in waiting room to get basic scan to make sure nothing is going on in the ear or I have tumor in head.

Yet I'm being told that I have to sit in scanner for 45 minutes. WTF? Is this normal?

I'm concerned I'm getting the wrong scan. Help please? In waiting room right now.

They are talking about scanning ear and injecting stuff.

45 minutes sounds about right. Ask for ear plugs, this test is quite noisy.

They will inject gadolinium, a contrast medium. You should be fine.

Yes, that's normal. Ask for earplugs and muff. Every head MRI that I've had they also placed large foam around my head. Could barely hear the techs shouting.

I recently had a full body MRI. Nearly took two hours.

And yes, they have to inject contrast for part of the scan.

Wear good ear muffs . I think couple of people here got T because of MRI .
I would wear ear plugs and on top of it ear muffs .

I only wore earplugs rated at 33. Was that enough? I'm concerned I messed my ears up more but idk. They didn't offer muffs, just earplugs.

That is pretty weird. My MRI only lasted for 20 minutes. The doctor was talking to me always when the MRI stopped making the noises. "Now the second picture, this will last 2-3 minutes".
MRI length varies based on the scans. There are different sequences. Was your scan of only your ears or of your brain and ears?

I had a scan of my brain with additional sequences only for my ears. Took about 45 minutes.

When a sequence was not running, there was still a buzz from the machine as it recalibrated and adjusted for the next sequence.
