I just got myself a PlayStation 5. I've been playing Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales for hours now.

It's AWESOME! I haven't thought about my tinnitus at all while playing. It takes all your focus and you can't be bothered by your tinnitus.

Are there any other gamers here who find gaming helpful for dealing with tinnitus?

Is the fan quiet? I've tried so many consoles but the HDD or fans irritate my hyperacusis. But I've heard the PS5 is super quiet, plus you can play Spiderman.

It's very quiet, I can't really hear it from my couch. MKBHD also confirmed this in his review.

And the new controller is SO GOOD!

I also use the Pulse 3D Wireless Headset, very comfortable and good sound.

Well you're 10 times ahead of anyone shilling for TRT.

I think it's helpful if the tinnitus is moderate or mild - when I was at severe I could not hold my concentration to play online for more than about 15 minutes. At moderate if I play a podcast and play the game on mute, it's helpful because I'm double distracted listening and reacting to what's on-screen.

I'm not at mild now but when I was, pretty much nothing was an obstacle, so the tinnitus had no effect.

I fully acknowledge there may be people with severe tinnitus who can play games, I just know I couldn't. Being inside at all actually was torture.

Severe tinnitus here.

Staying focused on something you love doing and requires concentration is the best natural way to distract your mind from the tinnitus suffering. Not that it takes the sound away or makes it softer, but it puts your focus on something else.

Playing video games is a good way to train your brain to focus on something else than the sound.
