I ask because I’ve gone on and off Nortritpyline 2 times. Each time I’m on it my overall bilateral tinnitus is better, but the left ear which is usually quieter get louder with a new tone.

This concerns me because if it is blunting tinnitus overall, but inducing new tones, I wonder if it might inhibit recovery.

Probably no real answer here but it is a weird conundrum.

I'm not sure if this answers your question but there are lots of people here who got tinnitus from anti-depressants - including me and I had no hearing issues prior.

Your previous times on Nortritpyline: how long did you take it for & at what dose? The risk is that if you exceed your personal threshold then you'll get the full effect of tinnitus. Mine was 150mg.

Somebody's hyperacusis nerve pain here mostly cleared up on Nortritpyline. I wanted to give it a try but this concerns me. Regardless I'll take more tinnitus tones in exchange for abating the pain.

I’m only on 50mg - it’s helped me so far.
