      Hi,

I have had tinnitus for over 2 months and still trying to figure out what is the cause.

I started having neck pain, then I had bad stress along with pulsatile tinnitus, and then one night when playing around with my jaw I started having tinnitus.

I saw several ENTs, TMJ specialists, spine specialists, MDs and also allergy specialists.

One thing I had before the tinnitus started was clogged ears and nose so my allergist recommend to start taking Montelukast. Could it have caused my tinnitus spike?

Does anybody have any experience with Montelukast?

I'm taking supplements and trying everything I can before I give up trying to find a cure.

I've stopped taking Montelukast to see if it has any effect on my depression. I started taking it 3 months before my tinnitus onset, though I really don't think it had anything to do with my tinnitus. It has a short half life, but I'm trying to go a month without it to see if my brain needs any time to adjust. I'd been taking it for about 1.5 years.

I took it for two days but last night it gave me a panic attack and depression plus my tinnitus went crazy. No idea if my tinnitus is loud due to the panic attack, i.e. I pay more attention to it.

It has been the worst pill I have ever taken. I have taken many medications and never had any issues with any of them in the past.

@NYCGuy, I read your other posts and I wonder about low immunity inflammation that could be from something like chemicals or pollution.

Very mild tissue inflammations (not seen on any type of MR scans) can briefly increase and travel to not so perfect anatomy such as neck, jaw - then one ear (most common) when blood pressure and circulation is briefly high from either stress or excitement.

Your headaches - what part of head?

Your blood work (lipid levels) may provide clues.

You can beat this - as you appear under 40.

I often talk about what can cause somatic tinnitus or pulsatile tinnitus. But when one first has hearing loss tinnitus - I have a top ten cause list where somatic and/or pulsatile tinnitus could then develop.

Tops for pulsatile tinnitus is arteriosclerosis and when younger sudden and brief episodes of rising blood pressure. Both arteriosclerosis and rising blood pressure will play together when older.

Tops for somatic tinnitus is tight neck muscles that can have a domino effect from C spine to jaw. Second is that stress with hearing loss tinnitus can cause clenching of teeth.

With tinnitus, stress can challenge the immune and nervous systems.

Hawthorn Berry twice a day and 1/3 of a Glycinate Magnesium 400 mg three times a day might help to relax you.

      Hi Greg.

Thank you so much for this. Strange you mentioned high blood pressure. I do have high blood pressure but now I've been for two months on no salt, sugar and low caffeine diet so my blood pressure is very well under control.

I do Magnesium already and I will do the other one you recommend.

I know I have a notch of hearing loss at 2 kHz at 35 dB but is that the cause of my tinnitus? I can affect my tinnitus with different jaw and neck movements. I did first have pulsatile tinnitus, which seemed to trigger the regular tinnitus. All doctors confirm both are different and they say there is no connection between the two.

I'm 35 years old. Do you think I still have hope that this will go away? Do you recommend any other stuff to do?

I did my blood test two days ago and I should have the results this week.

Thank you so much for your help, it seems you know a lot.
