If you go to the doctor's and they take a look at your thyroid, for instance, or some cervical lymph nodes, they use an ultrasound device. Now, I know that you need quite some power to get through tissue to make it visible.

My question is can that be harmful for your ear? Maybe not while on the thyroid but what if the doctor points the ultrasound probe at your ear? Should I wear earplugs when going for the scan? Can it go through bone and reach the inner ear if he checks some auricular lymph nodes with it?

      Thanks in advance.
