Causes?

Hi Everyone. I have had this tinnitus for a few months - maybe 3 = it does seem terrible - sometimes it is so loud I genuinely have trouble hearing people speak! Other times it isn't as bad. I have it in both ears.

I went to my GP who said - I have to learn to ignore it and will have it for life now.

BUT, I've seen here on the net that there often causes for this. I was thinking of going back to my GP and ask whether a specialist or anyone can perhaps test me for reasons for this?

I would hate to think I am putting up with this when there may possibly be something I can do about it? What do you all think? :/

 

First off can you tell us what caused your T

 

No, I have no idea what caused the T. None. That's why I am looking for answers.
I've read on here that anxiety can cause this - which I do have - but have had this for a long time.
Also sinus - yep, I do also have that, but have had for a long time. ??? No idea.

 

Anxiety doesn't help for sure. Sinus have you tried nasal spray to relieve the nasal passage

 

There is no certainty of this. The average GP knows as much about tinnitus as you did before it started.

 

You need to diagnose it and find a root cause. Follow this diagnostic flow chart.
Don't give up.

Sure. But bring the flowchart I sent you with you and work together with the ENT so you can follow the process and understand what's going on.

Three months is a very short time even though it seems like years.....I remember what it was like for me. Mine was also so loud I couldn't hear conversations. I would get so mad at the Doctors who sort of brushed me off. Ugg...

Do you have severe anxiety issues because of the noise?

Finding a cause is so hard. When I found mine and investigated it no one would listen to me or they would say impossible! I quit looking and speaking about it for a long time.

Please be assured that this should lessen for you with time. Avoid loud places.

Thanks, Starthrower = I have quite bad anxiety BEFORE the T. This has only made it worse. I hope you are right about it lessening. :/
