I'll start with my experience: I acquired a condition known as tinnitus, ringing in the ear, when a large truck backfired a few feet from me. It was a sudden, very loud explosion. The ear damage was evident to the neurologist, and very annoying to me to have this warbling dual tone whistling in my ear 24/7, especially when you consider that I love peace and quiet. I was told that it could go away, but after six years I was told that having it for that long, with no diminishment, it would never go away. And every specialist I spoke with said the same thing... it will never go away if you've had it this long. Oh well, at least that truck didn't run me over. But after ten years, I woke up one morning and noticed that it was gone! So something deemed as incurable was indeed resolvable. I went back to the neurologist who had assured me that it would never go away, and rather than take my word for it, he re-tested me and to his amazement, he saw that it was indeed gone. The fact that it was gone was a woo-whooo! moment for me, but when I realized the process that had occurred, it was even a greater delight. The reason why some people who have tinnitus take it to the grave with them is because tinnitus is not life-threatening, and the body can only devote so much nerve energy to healing on any particular day, so tinnitus is at the bottom of the list, and cancer cells are at the top. And since I had been involved in an industry where I worked with a chemical that was later found to be carcinogenic, my body had probably been working on beating back that advancing cancer, and only when it was finished with that, and any other serious conditions caused by my previously unhealthy lifestyle, it turned its attention to the non-life-threatening stuff, and dealt with the tinnitus. Yes indeed, an even bigger woo-whooo! moment.

      Other,

Hello Eddy ,interesting .Then again as someone who studied Chinese Medicine ,In that world just eating raw food could/might be totally the wrong way to go for health with regarding Yin/Yang balance etc etc ...and completely raw foods will really hit the digestive system I reckon. It is just not natural Is it.

      Everything In moderation including moderation.:)

I think it could work for some too, there are actually other reports where chronic tinnitus resolved after a change of diet. Well actually my tinnitus has been reduced quite a bit after i changed to eat brown rice and my long time GERD problem has almost cured.

Well even if this doesn't really work at all, at least we get to know that somebody has had their chronic tinnitus completely went away and we could be the next one, who knows.

Hi mate, i do think eating organic and parasite free raw food should have better effect to our body but like you said moderation is the key. I did saw an article mentioned modern human body has evolute to eat cooked food compared to ancient human though. Everyone's body reacts differently so who knows the Yin for one could be the Yang for the other :)

I don't think we do. I'd be very surprised if Don Bennett even exists.

There's no doubt that raw food has more healthy enzymes etc. in it but it'd have to be organic otherwise we'd be consuming even more pesticides than usual because none will have been eliminated through cooking.

It would also possibly be difficult to digest - if we'd eaten raw food since childhood it could be ok but our digestive systems have adapted to cooked food.

Don Bennett should be a real guy, he did seminars and has youtube videos but of course we don't know if his tinnitus story is true.

Well, i'm pretty confident that raw fruits, vegetables and fish (sashimi) are better for health than their cooked version, i'm not sure about meat though :)

If he is real then it's a shame that the site looks as though it's just another scam to persuade people to 'buy the book'.

Let me know if you try raw meat @EddyLee :D

Hi, I've been sticking to a raw food diet for some 15 years, basically 100% raw, after weeding out certain initial mistakes about what products aren't.

I always had a light form of tinnitus, possibly due to being exposed to loud sounds related to making music. Switching to a raw food diet didn't change that at all. In fact, fairly recently it got worse to a level of being annoying. This might be related to a sound blast that I was accidentally hit by recently.

If done correctly in a balanced way (there are a few things to know), being on a raw food diet is great for your health in many, many ways, and can cure tons of ailments and diseases. This can mean that if you have problems with your hearing due to some kind of inflammation, then a raw food diet might help, given some time.

However, it looks to me that many forms of tinnitus are not caused by inflammation (mine probably isn't), so the solution will have to be something else...

      Hope this clarifies ;)

I don't doubt that fresh nutrition can help heal tinnitus, but wouldn't you think the effect would be more gradual? This person says that he woke up one morning after 10 years, and the noise-induced tinnitus was suddenly gone.

Just trying to connect the dots here...

I'm not trying to be negative here but I have to ask if you've tried the blender method that retains the fiber? The theory is that this is healthier to consume as the fiber helps to slow the ingestion of the fructose into the body. Plus it just seems wasteful to get rid of the peels (where much of the vitamins are located) from fruits and even veggies.

Not trying to be insulting. If your method works to your satisfaction then more power to you. I was simply curious though.

      Thanks

Don Bennett said he went back to the neurologist who re-tested him and found the tinnitus was gone. I don't know of an objective test for tinnitus. When I've gone to the audiologist the only way she knows I have tinnitus is because I tell her I do. The only way she can test for the volume of my tinnitus is when I tell her the tone she's giving me is louder or less loud than my tinnitus tone. I'm interested that people seem to tolerate the pineapple. I avoid it because compared with other fruits, it's "very high" in salicylates which I avoid because I've read salicylates are ototoxic.
