Hey,

Mild volume spikes, such as certain "blowy" letters in speech, or things bumping together, trigger a momentary something in my left ear that makes me hear a distorted "crackle" and feels like some kind of spasm.

Also, that ear sometimes feels "blocked" for a few hours.

However, my hearing is completely normal and symmetrical on both sides. I'm super careful with my ears and haven't been exposed to any common hearing damage triggers. I do, however, use earplugs a lot.

Does anyone have an idea what this could be?

Thanks!

Are you still experiencing this?
Does it "crackle" all the time or just when you swallow?
I hope you are all better now.

The crackling and ear blockage got a lot better. I've been to an allergologist and she said that there was probably a constriction somewhere in the ear/nose area because of the currently beginning allergy season in my country and that was probably the cause.

I always hear a pop when I swallow, but as far as I know that is normal.

Good to hear!

Maybe you need to consider taking allergy shots....

It is. :)

Be well,
