Hey gang I'm new to this forum but thought I would share my recent experience.

I have suffered with tinnitus for about 5 years seeking all sorts of remedies and most recently reviewing Tinnitus Retraining Therapy (TRT).

After a visit to my Dr. in Scottsdale AZ I was talking to my 21 year old grandson who was born deaf and was implanted with a cochlear device at 2 years old and he hears great. After I told him about my Dr. visit and the symptoms I have been suffering with my tinnitus he said that he had the exact same symptoms. His mom, after spending several thousands of dollar for surgeries, processors and visits to therapist, then ask why he had never told her about it and he said he JUST THOUGHT THE BUZZING IN HIS HEAD WAS NORMAL! Makes me wonder if tinnitus has anything to do with hearing at all and isn't just a mal-function of the brain?

Anyway Good Luck to all of you in quest to kick this tinnitus thing and I will let you all know if the TRT gives me any relief.

It is a brain malfunction, caused by an incomplete circuit from the ears to the brain.

True, ear damage or hearing loss can be a root cause, but many other things can cause it too. It should really be described as a symptom of an underlying problem.
