      I am not sure how loud the one I use (the portable/travel version) is. I will measure it tonight with my dB meter.

      Use noise reducing earplugs not the foam type. Noise reducing earplugs have in-built filters. Then you can use Waterpik without any problems.

      Earplugs with filters because of the occlusion effect?

      I use earmuffs (I don't think it's necessary but I tend to be extra careful..) so that I don't hear the noise that the device emits, and I don't notice any occlusion effect. It is simply a spurt of water against the teeth/gum. I don't think it would be an issue if your earplugs seal the ear completely.

      By the way, Michael, I was wondering: Do you use the "plaque seeker" tip or the regular tip?

      Thank you @Michael Leigh. I've been using that one too.

      @Turgy According to my phone (I could not use my physical dB meter, I realized its battery is depleted and I need to buy a new one), the noise that the device emits is around 77dB at 10 centimeters.

      I did Ultrasonic cleaning 3 weeks ago. I was absolutely fine after it. I was 11 months in at that moment.

      Is the noise primarily from the pump mechanism, or the water jet?
      Did I understand it correctly if there is no/only little bone conduction so that the occlusion effect is not huge?

      @K.A.
      I am not sure how it works. I said "the noise that the device emits" but actually, I don't remember if the loud noise comes from the device itself or the tip againt the teeth (I don't think it works with water jets though). I think if it's super noisy simply because it rotates at super high speed.
