Hi All,
The British Tinnitus Association states "Middle ear infections can cause hearing loss and tinnitus. Symptoms will normally be temporary, but it is important to have the underlying infection treated by a GP."
I've had an ear infection for 3 weeks now (middle ear infection I think i.e. swollen eardrum, infected fluid behind the eardrum, ear pain, sinus headaches, and a bit of ear discharge in the last few days [gross I know] etc) - with accompanying tinnitus. My hearing is fine.
I don't know if the ear infection in my ear is causing the tinnitus or making it worse following an short exposure to loud noise.
Just hoping if anyone knows of any means to heal from an ear infection at a faster rate?
I've already been taken two weeks worth of prescribed amoxicillin, and I'm unsure it if safe to go for the third week or if the request will be rejected.
I'm thinking of taking decongestants?
I'm worried that the longer I have an ear infection; the greater the likelihood it will cause permanent damage to the ear.
Any treatment that can be taken to speed the healing process up?
Thanks a bunch!
