Cause of Tinnitus
Loud club
Every single fire alarm just went off inside my building and I had to walk outside the building! Was exposed for about 2 minutes and had my fingers in my ear for about 1 of them. The fire alarms are loud and every single one was going off!! Freaking out! My tinnitus is already worse from alarm

And now I'm freaking out.

Get on prednisone asap and do some LT both have studies showing a healing effect in the very early acute stage

I'm going to go to my gp tonight and try and get prednisone (UK) is there anything I can do and say to try and get it? I know they don't often give it out for tinnitus on the UK

Alarms are around 85db in the UK. I really doubt you did any damage in the amount of time you were exposed, try to stay calm and reduce your anxiety.

Hi Ryan.
The fire alarms at work have gone off if they have been activated accidentally.
They usually wait till I have left the building or out on the school yard for a fire drill as know I suffer with ear problems.

Try to stay calm and I don't think any permanent damage would have been done!
Good luck at the doctors and keep us all posted.

Love glynis

thanks for the kind words everyone. Supposed I'm just thinking the worst. It was extremely loud, was probably 30 or so alarms going off throughout the building. Ears have felt full and tinnitus has spiked but I'll try and take my mind off it

popping prednisone every time you're around a slightly scary noise is probably a lot more harmful than just moving on with life.

sometimes the world is loud. My kid likes to let loose with 100db right into my ears sometimes. Usually I have earplugs in when she's tantruming, sometimes I don't. Whoop whoop.

I'm usually fine with loud noises and don't overprotect my ears. It's just the duration of exposure and the loudness as well as the frequency the alarms that I think was the problem. My t has spiked which sucks

yeah, it's a bummer, but I think you'll probably be fine in a day or two, especially if you can chill about it and get some decent sleep in the meantime. I am not a doctor or scientist, that's just my opinion based on what my ears do.

If you want to take prednisone, go for it; I wouldn't, but these are all very personal decisions (and you might not be willing to do some of the bizarre things that I do to get through the day :-P )
