glad I found this site. I look forward to reading the post in hope that something will help.
I got my tinnitus from 35 years in Emergency Service air horns and sirens.
The past couple of weeks it has gotten louder. it's a high pitched sound in both ears.
the pitch is above high C on a organ.

A warm welcome to Tinnitus Talk.
I hope your spike settles down soon for you.
Keep sound on around you to help distract you from your sound and be kind to yourself with some nice treats to keep your chin up...lots of love glynis

You mean you have had tinnitus for 35 years?

@Richard 2012

Welcome to Tinnitus Talk. Very sorry to hear about your onset with tinnitus. You have come to the right place for decent information and support. I also have this very high pitch screech in each ear that never fluctuates. It is always loud and always there. Unfortunately once the damage has been done for most of us, me have to adjust to living with it and getting along with it as best as possible. I am currently also deaf in both ears other than residual hearing in my right ear (fire alarms, close sirens etc. can be heard) so I cannot even try to mask this noise.

I did some small damage to my hearing from loud working environments and also playing in a few local bands. Had minor tinnitus since 2005 but suddenly in 2011 I had an issue with my only kidney that required emergency surgery and believe I had a bad reaction to drugs administered during that surgery. On my second day after surgery I was home recovering. I woke up and almost completely deaf and the tinnitus was crazy loud. I really panicked!!

So my first advice is always see your doctor and discuss this thoroughly. A referral to an ENT (ear nose throat) specialist never hurts. You may go thru many tests and even MRI's and still walk away with no real help. Just the same, always go the medical route so your doctor has everything well documented.

Many issues arise with tinnitus that I'm sure you may begin to experience. Getting to sleep can be hard. Staying asleep hard. Anxiety about your future. Depression. All kinds of things are associated with tinnitus. You doctor may help you get thru some bad times with different medications but beware of what you take and for how long. Your lifestyle will change if this continues to be loud. You will avoid loud environments and parties etc. Even possibly withdraw from some friends cause even conversations can be bothersome on some days. Don't be afraid to do what you feel is necessary to feel better. Job losses occur from loud tinnitus. It's just not anything I wish on anyone.

Protect your hearing as best you can now. Buy a bunch of those cheap foam earplugs and keep a pack handy at all times. Never know when you might need them. Feel free to ask any questions here to anyone of us. We know what you are going thru!!

Regards,

Mike

To Share. I've had a mild tinnitus sense the mid 90s. But it has gotten worse in the past month. I've worked around sirens and air horns for 35 years
