Cause of Tinnitus
motorcycles/ work
I am hoping I am in the wrong place but I don't think so.....I am and avid motorcycle rider...I have always wore ear plugs when I ride to protect against wind noise... Lately ear plugs are causing me problems...With anything in my ear have tried many a brand of ear plugs and also customs molds...Anyways I am getting thumping noises at certain speeds inside my helmet....also walking around with ear plugs I can get thumping noises with ever step....or if I lightly tap on the back of my neck same thing....Its only when both ear plugs are installed that the problem exist...Recently to the ear plugs have started hurting my ears....I have ridden over 300,000 mile with same type and never made my ears hurt...

So is this the dreaded T...... gonna make an appointment with a ENT on Monday...

thoughts??

Hi @Wistrick,
A warm welcome to Tinnitus Talk.
Not sure about the thumping unless pulsitile tinnitus .
If your ears are usually ok with earplugs you might have something going on with your ears so best to get checked out by ENT.
Could be wax build up or mucous in your middle ears .
Tinnitus can be heard in your ears but also your head ...
Let us know how you go on at ENT and keep posting for support on the main forum to get more replies...lots of love glynis
