      Hi to all off you.
I´m a bit over 50 and I have had Tinnitus for some years. Perhaps it all started n some discotheque or concert years ago or in the army. I sometimes heard some singing sound in my head. I just finished my scuba diver hobby after 30 years off and now I am on land or just sailing.

A couple of years ago I had some problems with my ears. The pressure did not go away when I came up to the surface. My ears were often as blocked, just like you have the flu. At the same time my Tinnitus has been worse. I hear a lot of different sounds all the time day, night….all the time. They sometimes change.

I was to a ear specialist (?) and she took a sound check or what’s it called, the thing when you have to listen to different sounds on different levels. Well I did not hear them all because my head was full of my own sounds. The only thing the doctor said was that I need a hearing aid. I did not go to the next test….

I went to a physio-therapeutics and she gave me some acupuncture treatment, but it was not my thing. I felt like a fish on the hook. I also have been drinking some Ginkgo drops for two months but no change. I know I sleep to little, for about 6-6,5 hour per night and that is one thing that I have to change.

Well this is me. The only place I feel good is in the shower when the water drops on my head. That mix the sound and it almost disappears. I just can´t stand in the shower all the time., so that’s about that.

It´s a heavy sound. Very strong and I don´t want to listen to it, but it comes thru, Ou yee it really does.

Try other masking sounds too besides shower, such as heavy or torrential rain (with or without thunder storm), waterfalls, cicadas, faucet sound, etc. Here is one really high pitched masking sound for tinnitus that members sometimes credit it with making their T disappear. Try to use outside speakers, such as bluetooth speaker and play this on your smart phone. Adjust volume low first and slowly turn up until your T just disappear. There are two versions, one with the beep and the other one without. To repeat this video, right click on it and choose LOOP.

      Car accident
That fullness in your ears is probably hearing loss. You say that you did not hear all the exam sounds because of the tinnitus, but I doubt it. I had minor hearing loss, and had my hearing checked by an ENT. I did not have any tinnitus at that time. A few months later, I was rear-ended at a stop sign, and my brain bounced off the top of my skull -- concussion. Immediately, at the accident, I experienced tinnitus for the first time, and it has never gone away. I took another hearing exam, and my results were exactly the same -- before and after the tinnitus. In fact, I have taken the exam several times -- even with loud static in my head -- and my results always come back the same as before I had tinnitus.

My guess is that your hearing exam is what it is -- the tinnitus is not affecting the results. The fullness or "blocking" that you feel is hearing loss.

That said, the doctor is right, and hearing aids will offer you relief. When you internalize the sound of the tinnitus due to hearing loss, it feels worse. When you wear hearing aids, the blocked feeling goes away, and the increased exposure to external sounds offers relief from tinnitus.
