      Hey,
I've had tinnitus as long as I can remember (50+ years).
I think it stems from a head injury as a 5 year old. I fell about 8-10 feet onto a concrete floor. Point of contact was my face. 30+ years of driving ambulances and fire trucks didn't help the situation, neither did the rock and roll.
Lately my tinnitus has been getting worse. Makes me F'ing crazy!
      Anyway, here I am.

      Yes
Early in my career we did not but as I got older it's not only recommended at some departments it's mandatory.
Early on we sat outside the truck next to the turbo intake. Over 100Dbs. Years ago the ambulances has sirens and air horns overhead now they are mounted on the bumper.
      Good day!
