I want to hear from all the people who got tinnitus after getting sick.

How did it start?
What was your diagnosis?
What are the characteristics of your tinnitus?
Have you seen improvements?
Has it gotten worse?
What is your timeline (how long have you had it)?
Miscellaneous things like do you also have hearing loss, how has it impacted your life, so you have ear pain, ear popping, and anything else?

Thank you for your responses as I see few posts from people who actually got tinnitus during a sickness, though I know there are many!

Much love and God Bless. We can get through this together!

Oh, I did!

Nearly a decade ago now I started developing a lot of vertigo-like symptoms, and went entirely deaf in an ear. Went to a few specialists here and there and it turns out it was due to a particularly nasty inner ear infection. To my doctors surprise, my hearing (mostly) returned a few months later, but I've had some really mild tinnitus ever since, something that I wouldn't even notice unless I tried to focus in on the noise.

Well, that was the case until about 4 years ago when I started working around trains and had a few regrettable nights filled with loud noises. Though I still feel lucky my tinnitus is at a manageable level, it has gotten much louder since it first appeared. I still have minor hearing loss, but it doesn't usually affect my day-to-day life, aside from having to say "pardon me?" around five times more than the average person.
