Tinnitus Since
05/2017 (H since 06/2017)
Cause of Tinnitus
long term noise exposure (headphones), maybe some stress.
I have been on my new AD for 6 weeks now and it should have its full effect now.

But I am as depressed as ever. About 70-80% of my awake time I'm thinking about death, suicide, pain/suffering, how my life will never get better and so on.

I know I am tapering off the benzo but can it really impact my mental state that much?? Scary as hell :(

Can the right AD and dosage make you think of your tinnitus as nothing more then an irritation or am I expecting too much??

As you know an antidepressant helps a person not to become "too low" You might need a higher dose to help with this. Talk it over with your doctor on how you feel. It is counselling with a Hearing Therapist or Audiologist that specialises in tinnitus, that can help take away and demistify the negative thinking that often affects people that are troubled by tinnitus.

They never made me feel happy, I think they just stop you from sinking enough to go to to that dark place.

My depression came from tinnitus, after starting AD's they have helped a little bit, but don't expect them a miracle pill because they are not. I still get upset over it although I feel I can manage it better.

Time is the greatest healer in my opinion.
