There was me before tinnitus and after tinnitu.

Ever since I got tinnitus, I've had much more problems concentrating.

I used to have plenty of ideas and my thoughts were clear...

But you just got accepted to engineering school? So tinnitus doesn't affect your life too much?

long term noise exposure (headphones), maybe some stress.
I don't think any of us are the same as before. It IS a life changing thing, getting chronic tinnitus (and hyperacusis). I also see myself as two persons. The one pre-tinnitus and the one post-tinnitus.

Strife you've been a story that I've followed because of similar onset and circumstances. Monday I had a spike. Wednesday I had the quietest day I may have had since onset. Lastnight it picked back up very bothersome.

If anything, it ebbs and flows a lot. I can't figure the reason, as I am very protective of my ears when using tools, and limit exposure.

The only joy I have, is that we are early on. Many find relief within a year. Peace to you.

I think it's normal. I used to search on the Web about hotels, restaurants, funny places to go... Now I read about neuromodulation, GABA, limbic system, etc.

It does. Trust me. I am still unable to do music which I love the most.

I would've done better in test without this.. But I lost huge part of my creativity...

I am not the same anymore. I try to visualize these ideas in my head but it's all a fuzz.

I lost my creativity... It feels like tinnitus is blocking it.

That's why I am not the same anymore.

In case of concentration, why don't you try Neurofeedback? I guess you will benefit from it and it may also reduce T. Or you may wanna share your exprience if you already did!

      Good Luck

I also looked thru a mirror not knowing who I was. And it took me over a year to get one body. I kept working with taking breaks, I also do fine motor puzzles to help with concentrating. It takes a while to get yourself back together.

Pre-tinnitus, I was a keen amateur musician. I'd just got back into playing the acoustic piano again.

Post-tinnitus, I am an ex-musician. Tinnitus sufferers who are not musicians, we share many of the same trials and problems it's true. But if you've had to give up your musical passions, it's a particularly cruel twist. One can only hope and believe that it's not forever.

Mindfulness does help. Also I'm learning to appreciate the beauty of natural masking sounds (rivers, birdsong etc.) My wife says I am a more calm person too.

I've changed too. I was a lot stupider about protecting my hearing before tinnitus! Now I realize how fragile ALL of our senses are and take much better care of myself and avoid damaging situations. I am also more empathetic with people who have hearing problems and finally understand why old people are afraid to go out.

I consider myself very lucky to have had the chance of living through the early 80's to late 90's club scene with perfect ears and no fear of tinnitus. What a great time to be young and going out, meeting women and the like.

Now it's all online, SnS and the music isn't that great anymore. Still would like to go out and have fun, but I need to be careful and avoid... If we ever get to fix those ears with the FX-322 I am back partying all night guys.
