I've Always Had It but Now It's Worse. 54-Year-Old.

I always had Tinnitus probably due to motorcycle wind noise (ridding over 30 years). Both my father and brother also have it (they also ride). It has always been in the background but it it is becoming much more noticeable.

My only relief is when I'm in the shower ( I guess it's masking the noise). Mine is in is in both ears and rings at about 10k. I can still sleep but I'm very worried as I've read that some people go mad.

From reading this forum, I see that there is little I can do other than live with it but I'm glad I'm not alone.

I hope they find a cure some day.

Tinnitus caused by exposure to loud noise as in your case, will only continue to get worse if a person subjects themselves to further noise. If there is no underlying medical problem causing your tinnitus to get worse, then loud noise is usually responsible. It would be a good idea to get a referral to ENT so tests can be carried on your auditory system.

If you regularly listen to music through headphones or attend places where loud music is played, then this could be the reason for the increase in your tinnitus. Working in a noisy environment can also be responsible. Please click on the links below and read my posts on tinnitus, that you might find helpful. Try to read them in full and not skim through them. Use sound enrichment at night in preference to sleeping in a quiet room. More about sound enrichment is mentioned in the posts below.
