Hello, is there someone on the forum who has done IVF procedures, such as all those hormones and all?

Did it have any effect on your tinnitus and possible hyperacusis?

Are there any ototoxic meds I should be aware of?

Any advice is appreciated since IVF doctors are good in GYN stuff and ENTs in ear stuff but they don't really know about what is in between so I hope to get some info from some woman who have done it?

@iAzra, this isn’t really a help, as I did IVF before my tinnitus.

Just wanted to wish you the best of luck on your IVF journey.

I doubt there are many women who have done IVF with tinnitus & hyperacusis here.

      So here's my advice:

Ask during consultation what medications, potentially or certainly, are used in the process and then research if they are ototoxic or not.

Unpopular opinion here: When you have a condition like hyperacusis, you should really think hard about whether it's a good thing to have a child. It's one thing to have a child prior to getting hyperacusis, but having a child after getting it, seems selfish to me, especially when one's case is not mild, based on your posts here. What would be the child for? To add meaning to a lonely, difficult life?

You won't agree with me of course, and there's no point in arguing with me because I won't agree with you either. I'm just posting for other people who are still rightfully contemplating whether or not it's good to have a child when one has a debilitating illness.

Haven't seen this up till now... Well, the baby would have a father too, right? And my tinnitus & hyperacusis have got to a level where I can function for what are a child's needs.

But I haven't got pregnant yet, so, be happy.

      Ignore that poster.

I'm glad your tinnitus and hyperacusis have improved somewhat.

I hope you get to experience parenthood... xxx

Definitely ignore that poster. How rude.

I did IVF but it was before I developed tinnitus so I can’t really help in that regard except to say that it did not cause my tinnitus. I haven’t really read anywhere that hormones are ototoxic in anyway. If they were, every woman on the birth control pill would have hearing loss and tinnitus

I know how hard the road of IVF is. And I just want to lend my support. I was lucky. I have a son. It’s very difficult on your body and a lot of stress and I wish you all the very best.
