Tinnitus Since
Maybe 7-8 years
Cause of Tinnitus
Unsure, was initially told "no cure".
I had not seen the site prior, but likely did not look hard enough for.

I have suffered with this stupid high-pitched "whooshing" for some years, not finding my records for but must have. I didn't know what was going on at first, wondering if one in another apartment was creating it somehow. When I saw my ENT early on, he said there was nothing that could be done for it and was very disappointed, as surely many others feel.

I found that I just had to adapt, like getting used to hearing traffic sirens when having lived near a hospital. It can be just overwhelming though and sounds more intense at times, but being only from the left ear. I am one of those wondering about the effects of Wi-Fi. I need to focus on how it affects me. :dohanimation:

Anyway, will hopefully be getting information here. :thankyousign:

Welcome to the forum.

The most common cause of tinnitus is exposure to loud noise. Typically, it is using headphones at too high a volume and for long durations and this includes using a headset. If you listen to loud music especially at clubs or concerts this can cause it too as well as working in a noisy environment. If you haven't been seen at ENT for tests then I advise that you do. If your tinnitus is noise induced my advice is not to listen to audio through any type of headphones including earbuds even at low volume.

Please click on the links below and read my articles on tinnitus that you might find helpful. Tinnitus can also be caused by an underlying medical condition within the auditory system, some are mentioned in my post:
New to tinnitus what to do

All the best

PS: There is no cure for tinnitus at the moment but there are treatments that can often help a person to have a better quality of life with the condition. Some are mentioned in the links below.
