Cause of Tinnitus
Initially caused by fireworks (cherry bomb) exploding
I have had tinnitus for approximately 42 years. I had to learn to live with it long ago. I have done the reading/research thing a few times over the years, but the results were always the same...nothing. Once, I even bought the little white pills off the internet and that was when I learned about the scammers.

This morning I clicked on the Tonaki Tinnitus ad and watched the whole stupid video! I even clicked on the Buy Now button, but then did a search for scams and there it was, of course. That search also led me to this forum. I always tried to keep my mouth shut about what I go through with tinnitus, but sometimes the despair gets to me and this morning I'm feeling it.

Thanks Glynis. The other day when I joined up and wrote the above post, I literally had tears in my eyes thinking about my/our condition. Most of the time I don't even think about it, but every now and again Tinnitus takes center stage and I get depressed. I'm all good today, the noise is in the background, and life goes on. Thanks again for welcoming me. Have a good day!

My symptoms have varied some over the years, but the tone has reached a new level recently. The worst was a while back when the tone was very loud and varying. The sound I hear now is very much like that made by the Cicada, an insect that makes a high pitched screech/whistle. I live in the southeast and at night the Cicada colonies can make a lot of noise. It's pretty loud and obnoxious to me now because it resonates with the tinnitus sounds. But yes, overall I would say the sound has progressed over the years, from a medium pitched whistle, to that which I've described above.

Was your T noise induced? And do you wear plugs often? Thanks so much for sharing your experience! It's fascinating to see someone whose had T for so long.

Hey Coffee_Girl
I have never seen a physician about tinnitus nor have I tried to mitigate it in any way. The only thing I have done is consistently work on ignoring it and when that fails, I work on accepting it.
I have been sober for 10 + years because I used to drink at it (tinnitus). I helped with the noise, but ruined my marriage and many other things. Hopefully something will be discovered that will help us all, but I won't be holding my breath!

Thank you so much for your thoughts on this, yeah...I've had T for several years now and i still don't understand it much to this day. There are many great and brilliant minds on these forums, they are a very valued part of this website. I hope you stick around and share your stories =]
