Cause of Tinnitus
My own stupidity. Digging for ear wax.
Hello, I'm Chip, and this is my first post. Tinnitus in left ear for about three months. It's a very high pitch screech that increases and decreases in volume, but is always there. I'm walking to the psychiatric crisis center right now for a follow up with a counselor. It was recommended that I go there a few weeks ago after losing it at home. Family members out of state called police because they thought. . . but I didnt, obviously, although the thought is very strong at times. I have no idea how to adjust to this. My silent time is gone, the time I need to decompress gone. I live in a world of noise now, the tinnitus and all the noise I create to mask it. I have an appointment with an ENT doctor in a few weeks, an initial visit to a nurse practitioner a month ago revealed nothing. Anyways, just wanted to say hello and then walk out into the freeway and stand in traffic. (Joke.) Thanks for reading.

Chip. I am almost 3 months in now also. We are in the same situation as far as the time and emotional part. I am still trying to figure out the root of my T though.

As far as the depression/anxiety side of it... I have the same thoughts and feelings but I was going pretty dark there for a while. I have been doing IOP (5 days a week and 3 hours per day) for the last 2 months and taking some meds to help me through it. the IOP is basically a form of CBT with mindfulness, radical acceptance, STOP methods , deep breathing , etc...

Anyhow. Welcome to the forum.

Welcome Chip. I hope you get the help you need. I'm in this for only 1 month and wow it's a challenge. You've come to a great place for support. You're never alone here.

Thanks New guy and Dayma for your replies. It's comforting to know we're not alone with this. I look forward to reading and learning more here.

Welcome to Tinnitus Talk @Chip T,
Tinnitus can be hard going as the sound takes away out silence and unwanted emotions take hold.
With Time and support and for some medication and talking therapy we start to understand our Tinnitus and the changes in sound and strength.
It is by no means easy and the journey has ups and downs but having people on here going through the same thing gives you a place to come for support ....
Love glynis

Thank you Glynis. Yeah, the emotional aspect is my biggest challenge right now. You want some peace and quiet, but like that stupid mosquito that keeps buzzing around your head while you're trying to sleep, the quiet just rarely comes. I'm just beginning my journey into all the how's and whys, I'm visiting an acupuncturist who says he can fix it. Here's hoping. Also have an ENT appt scheduled a few weeks out.
Thanks for your reply.
