- Audio technician for rock band
Hi, I'm Alex, new here and finally seeking medical attention for lifelong tinnitus that seems to be worsening in one ear. Forgive me, I have yet to learn the tinnitus vocabulary, but mine has always been always been primarily a steady or lightly pulsing tone in various high frequencies. Lately my right ear has been going through episodes of stronger, lower frequencies that vary but can last for a day or two.
Most likely my exposure was about 2 years working the sound board for a local rock band. I was fairly careful not to push the dB levels into the discomfort zone, but had little control over the electric guitarists who played at levels to suit themselves. My doc has just now prescribed carbamazepine, and scheduled a hearing test... I suppose I just didn't want to know that I have permanent damage. I'm a bit of an audiophile and enjoy many kinds of music on modest high quality gear. Especially interested in hearing from those that have been able to minimize or rid themselves of this annoying malady. Hello, and thanks!
