      Hello forum.

      Tinnitus person since March 2018.
      Noise-induced.

Two weeks without it, no explanation how or why it's gone...

No meds, nothing special done, nothing.

I felt I owed this forum that information and I wish you all silence. I'm not expecting life to be fair in the days to come but I'm grateful for this outcome. Not sure if it gonna last but... hey, that made me stronger.

Thank you all and good luck.

So you did nothing. I just want to weigh I've had the same problem for 3 years. I believe that is what caused mine.

Congrats, and thanks for sharing the success.

I am not sure I can do nothing for almost a year, so double congrats to your patience.

Any tips to share? Any activities you avoided? Overprotection? Something must have worked, now just need to figure out what it was...

      Great news Dimitar!

I have had the same experience with my tinnitus which started about a year before yours. The weird thing about mine was that it was never permanent. I sort of went through a 5 day cycle: Day 1 loud, Day 2 less loud, Day 3 soft, Day 4 completely gone. Sometimes I'd get 2 days in a row of completely gone and then the pattern would start all over again.

After about 6 months the 'completely gone' and soft days started to outnumber the loud days, and the loud days got better. I think it was a combination of me habituating plus the ear healing to a certain extent. I went through a period like you where it was completely gone for what seemed like a month or longer.

However it did come back, so PLEASE PLEASE continue to protect your ears. For the past 2 years I have been in a great place with tinnitus. Even the days I could hear it, it was basically a minor annoyance and I could tune it out. However a week and a half ago out of nowhere I got my first bad spike. Not even sure what caused it except perhaps using headphones at low volume while working from home. Got new electric tones on top of my regular air hiss sound. Thankfully that only lasted a few days and I have been improving for the last week. It seems to be going back to baseline and the electronic beep tone was only present for a couple days. I am using this as a lesson to be more vigilant.

My tinnitus sounds exactly like yours, even following the same pattern of quiet and loud days. I've had it since March 2018. When it started it was very loud and intrusive. The improvements you describe are exactly like mine as well. I think it's a combination of habituation and healing, too. Unlike you though, my tinnitus has never gone away entirely. I'll have days where I have to stop and listen for it, but it's always there. I also have these moments on the quiet days where I get these strange zaps. It's like the tinnitus stops for a second or so. It's almost like it wants to fizzle out or something.

I have that too, it happens every other day or so. I also get alot of fleeting tinnitus moments, almost everyday. I didn’t have that in the beginning when my tinnitus started.

I never thought at a year and 3 months that mine would ever improve like it has. I've had major improvements with hyperacusis, as well. I've also gained some of my balance back that I had lost, but sometimes I'm still wobbly. The tinnitus is continuing to fade, but the progress is literally every 6-8 months, or so. I hope to be rid of this someday. Either, through natural healing, medical intervention, or a combination of both. Like my twin sister reminded me, "Miracles happen everyday.". I'm in a much better place than a year ago, for sure.

Great to hear about your progression!

In regards to your hyperacusis, what would you say has helped you the most on your way getting better? Did you do any therapy, or follow any particular "road map" so to speak?

Wow, great to "hear"! I ran across this thread after looking at your earlier hypothesis on nerve re-growth.

I have a theory that either:
      - HSV1 outbreak attacked my nerves
      - Hyper-vitaminosis of B6 stripped my myelin (I was taking 100mg of Synthetic B6 / Pyroxidine HCI sporadically before, and during the 2 weeks of Prednisone after seeing an ENT).
      - Both

Either way my minor tinnitus of a 0.5-3 range due to noise-induced hearing loss of many years went to an 5 then to an 8 during prednisone/B-6, and is probably in the 4-5 range now a few weeks later.

Looks like nerve re-growth and/or brain retraining can occur! Let's hope yours continues.

What supplements / strategy did you use to encourage progress??

The upper limit for vitamin B6 is 100mg, so that's just at the edge and I highly doubt it caused a lot of damage.
Yeah nerves regrow very slowly, but also depends on the extent of damage. The brain is a very powerful and strange thing!

I take a regime of magnesium, turmeric, multivitamin, zinc, fish oil, CoQ10, lipoflavonoid. I exercise and try to eat healthy. Sodium seems to aggravate my tinnitus so I avoid a lot of it. My ears have definitely healed. I just hope they continue. Tinnitus is nowhere near as bad as it was a year ago.

Did the Lipoflavonoid work for you? I took it for a month but I’m not sure if it had any effect.

Very encouraging. Mine started almost 4 weeks ago, and got worse after taking 3 doses of a Z-pak exactly 2 weeks ago. Unsure of the cause.

But it’s loud right now at night and I have morse code in my right ear.

My doctor put me on Prednisone for 7 days. It probably won’t help and I just need to live with it and make peace. It sucks. And the ENT could not have been more dismissive.
