Not Much Hope Left Anymore

Might be 100 years away for a perfect solution of gene therapy or stem cells that will perfectly grow perfect identical replacement hairs...or cloning a new cochlea in a vat of warm liquid goo and inserting it into your head...

But relief, real relief for T, is much closer than that in the form of

-pharmaceuticals that address the issue within the cochlea firing off naughty signals (think am-101)
-pharmaceuticals that address the issue with the auditory nerve/brain misfiring (think trobalt)
-stem cell and gene therapy work that could generate some hairs that while smaller in number and lower in quality than the original ones, are still "good enough" to reduce or eliminate T.

Also I guess there's cool robot stuff. Who knows how cochlear implants will evolve?

Hang in there. There's cause for hope. And that's what keeps me going.
