Porn and Tinnitus

A completely silly question from a tortured man by tinnitus. Can tinnitus be aggravated just by looking at some porn pictures?

I explain myself, I'm in a sort of sexual abstinence (NO FAP) and try to control as much as I can my sexual arousal and of course I avoid watching porn... But once in a while I fail in that duty. I have a girlfriend but we don't see each other very often, so sometimes I can stay 2 weeks without sexual pleasures... And sometime the urge is so strong that I need to masturbate just to be free in my mind and keep going on doing things without this sexual harassment in my spirit. So I masturbate maybe 1 or 2 times every 2 weeks without seeing my girlfriend. I don't think I'm in the overmasturbation concept

But for a reason that I don't know I have taken the link between the neuroendocrine response to masturbation-induced orgasm and the modification of the perception of my tinnitus like something to be bad... But anyway I don't blame myself for masturbating once in while, I am a human being god damn it! But I blame myself because I know that porn is bad (for me) and I know that watching porn could release higher amounts of dopamine... And last night I had this need to see some pictures, I looked at some pictures maybe during 5 minutes without doing anything else, only watching but afterwards I felt bad, not really proud of myself and started to be worried about the consequences on my tinnitus...

Is there a reason to be worried about a change in tinnitus after looking some porn pictures? Is there a link between visual stimulation and hearing issues? I know it sounds crazy but I need to know if I am really mad to have this kind of thinking because my tinnitus is so polyphonic that I am unable to know if a tinnitus frequency was there before or after my guilty acts. Then I'm starting to focus on it and feeling guilty and ashamed of what I have done to myself "Look, you have watched porn and now you have a new tinnitus sound" - hell.

Masturbate without porn then. It's extremely possible to not watch porn if you have enough self-discipline

You have some sexual shame issues that is unrelated to your tinnitus. Try not to stress out too much over it. You don't seem to have any issues with masturbation and porn addiction, that's great! Just remove the porn out of the equation if you feel it's not good for you

Pretty sure porn or masturbation can't make tinnitus worse.

 

Anything that messes with hormone levels can cause tinnitus fluctuation.

We're not really genetically equipped to process pornography and so total abstinence from it, in general, might be associated with some benefits. But, you can certainly say the same for alcohol and a lot of other things, and as with alcohol, it seems like most people are able to use pornography in a way that doesn't seriously interfere with their lives.

If it is displacing or replacing real-world intimacy, that's more of a problem. If it's causing you to have unrealistic expectations about your partners and sex acts, that's also a problem. If it's making your ears a little more ringy for a while after you go off, that sounds like par for the course.

 

Completely agree with that... I think the human brain isn’t really prepared to this amount of stimulation. I mean porn is pretty recent in human history. In the ancient times you could spend a whole life without seeing the quarter of what you have access to nowadays in 1 week of traditional porn habits! The level of dopamine is way too high with all these videos.

 

Why though? Not all of us are capable of forming intimate (sexual) relationships IRL regardless.

Masturbation (to porn) calms my mind, and my body... takes my attention away from tinnitus (and various destructive feelings) for a while and gives me a pleasurable feeling (which they are very few of in my life)... How can that be a bad thing? Of course one can get addicted to it and it can take over their life, but I'm in no danger of that personally... If so, it would have happened years ago.

 

I could be totally wrong, but I think it’s more detrimental to men. Our biology is hardwired to "conquer" women as it were, and for most average men this is the driving force in life. When you start looking at porn as a man, a major motivator in your life is given to you in an atrificial way. This is detrimental to some people. It's not supposed to be that way biologically speaking, just like we aren't supposed to live in cities and eat poison.

Also, since we actually just waste our vitality when ejaculating we become weaker when doing it. Women don't really have that problem as far as I know. And before anybody tries to refute this and calling it "woo woo", why don't you go a few months without ejaculating to see for yourself first...

 

Without porn I would never have learnt to understand women.

Isn’t there anything that doesn’t cause/exacerbate tinnitus?

 

So that's why I have tinnitus...
