Cause of Tinnitus
I don't know
Hi,

I was just wondering if there is a treatment for Pulsatile tinnitus?

I can hear my heartbeat in my ear and it's really getting to me. It's so loud sometimes. If I push on my neck where my pulses is, I can stop it for a moment.

I got water in my ear the other day and I thought..I should just leave it in there and maybe it would stop the pounding. No luck.

Has anyone found the cause or treatment. I went to my doctor and all she said was there is a vein there. That's why I hear it. No answer to the problem though.

Thanks for reading.

Hi Ems,
You could be picking up your pulse from your Coroted Artery that's right by your ear.
Tests can be done to try find the cause and ultrersound.
Hearing aids can help and for some a low Betta blocker....lots of love glynis

Hi, @Ems,

I can relate to your problem, as I have pulsatile tinnitus, too. Pulsatile tinnitus can be very treatable --- if the cause can be found.

As Glynis mentioned, you can have tests done to see if there is some sort of obstruction or problem. You might want to try going to a different doctor, if you started with an ENT. Do you have any neurologists or neurotologists in your area? A specialist of this type might have more knowledge of PT than an ENT or family practitioner. Tests that can be performed include an MRI (and you can also ask to have an MRV of the veins and an MRA of the arteries at the same time), or perhaps a CT scan.

Good luck, and I hope you will post again to let us know what you decide to do.

Best wishes,
Karen
