I've had mild tinnitus for a year. When I was lying in bed last night, I pressed the side of my nose against the pillow to itch it. As I did this, there was a noticeable gap in my tinnitus. It was almost inaudible. I tried it again, and it was still quiet. It's possible that I was imagining it, but is there any explanation for why it might have got quieter?

Many people's tinnitus gets louder when they stick their lower jaw out. What you are describing might be happening for the same reason. You are lucky that there is something you can do to make your tinnitus quieter.

If I were you, I would invest in a padded clamp to keep on your nose at all times. You might start sounding like Fran Drescher, but at least you don't have to deal with the noise.
